The Market Assessment in Kismayo District was conducted in Yoontoy and Bula-Garasey communities of Kismayo, Jubaland State of Somalia, from 07 May to 15 July 2025, for Arche-Nova.
The assessment aimed to analyze local market systems, economic conditions, and livelihood opportunities to inform inclusive, market-based programming for internally displaced persons (IDPs) and host communities, with a particular focus on youth and women.
The study generated evidence to support informed decision-making on income-generating activities, vocational skills development, and market-driven interventions that strengthen local economies and resilience in Jubaland.

Conducted a comprehensive market assessment to analyze local economic conditions, supply chains, and market dynamics in targeted communities.
Identified viable income-generating activities suitable for youth and women within IDP and host communities in Jubaland State.
Assessed market demand and availability of fisheries-related inputs, informing recommendations on items that Arche-Nova can support for livelihood programming.
Provided evidence-based recommendations to guide market-driven livelihood interventions aligned with local capacity and demand.
Guided the design of vocational skills training programs tailored for women and youth from both IDP and host communities.
Strengthened stakeholder understanding of market opportunities and constraints to support sustainable economic recovery initiatives.
All activities were implemented using participatory and field-based assessment approaches, ensuring accuracy, local relevance, and practical applicability of findings. The assessment contributed to improved program targeting, enhanced livelihood planning, and strengthened economic inclusion in Kismayo District.
